The Austrian Consulate General Los Angeles is happy to announce: SON OF THE VELVET RAT – WEST COAST TOUR 2021. European Folk Noir music band from Austria, based in Joshua Tree, CA
Son of the Velvet Rat was founded in 2003 by Austrian songwriter Georg Altziebler and organist and accordionist Heike Binder. Their music style is described as European Folk Noir. The band was – amongst others – nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Alternative category, and its album “Red Chamber Music” was named Best Austrian Album of the Year in 2011 by Wiener Zeitung.
In March 2021, Son of the Velvet Rat released their newest album “Solitary Company” with which they are touring the West Coast in October and November 2021. The tour is supported by the Austrian Consulate General in Los Angeles. For a little foretaste listen to a few of their songs here.
