NBA: The Next Dirk Nowitzki? Houston Rockets sign Tim Ohlbrecht

German born basketball player Tim Ohlbrecht joins the NBA-Team Houston Rockets (on the picture with Rockets-manager Darryl Morey)! The seven-footer, who played for the D-League team Rio Grande Valley Vipers before he joined the Rockets, signed a three-year contract with the Texan team.

ohlbrechtOhlbrecht, born in Wuppertal, is the eigth German basketball player who ever played in the NBA. The other ones are Uwe Blab, Christian Welp, Detlev Schrempf, Frido Frey, Chris Kaman, Shawn Bradley and of course Dirk Nowitzki.

Especially Nowitzki was pretty excited for his teammate from the German National Team. The “German Wunderkind” posted via “Twitter”: “Congratulations to Tim Ohlbrecht! To make it to the NBA from D-League, is damn hard! Huge respect! Welcome to the NBA!”

Ohlbrecht himself was just happy that he finally made it to NBA: “I did it! I can barely believe it. My dream is real now. Thanks to everybody who supported me on my way!” GW/Nico Herold
