NY: GERMAN FILMS SUPPORTS MOMA FILM SERIES

The Berlin School: Films from the Berliner Schule (November 20 – December 6)

German Films supports the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City with its film series The Berlin School: Films from the Berliner Schule. The exhibition takes place at The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters  from 20 November till 6 December 2013.

the berlin school filmsThe Berlin School: Films from the Berliner Schule shows 17 films from nine German filmmakers made between the mid-1990s and the present. They examine the first major movement within German cinema since the fall of the Berlin Wall. The filmmakers Christian Petzold and Thomas Arslan as well as actress Nina Hoss will be presenting their films in New York City. In An Evening with Christoph Hochhäusler and Benjamin Heisenberg the two directors will talk about their influences, their work and the movement Berliner Schule. The Berlin School: Films from the Berliner Schule is organized by Rajendra Roy, The Celeste Bartos Chief Curator of Film, MoMA, the German film critic Anke Leweke and Sophie Cavoulacos, Curatorial Assistant , Department of Film, MoMA.

The collaboration of German Films with the MoMA has a long tradition: In April the 35th edition of KINO! 2013 New Films from Germanyscreened six current films by up-and-coming German directors.
