At this month’s Stammtisch Open Haus, the DANK Haus is celebrating German-American Elvis Presley! From 1958-1960, Elvis, then a sergeant with the U.S. Army, was stationed in West Germany. The Open Haus will be Hawaiian-themed, due to Elvis’ fondness for Hawaii. All guests will receive leis.
There will be a performance by The Windy City Elvis, Michael St. Angel, in the Skyline Lounge. In addition, Toast Hawaii – a German sandwich created by Clemens Wilmenrod in the 1950’s, when Germany and the United States were both gripped with Hawaii fever — will be available for purchase. There will also be a full bar available with Blue Hawaiis on special.
Date and time: 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017
Location: DANK Haus, German American Cultural Center, Skyline Lounge, 4740 North Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625
