IL: Schlachtfest and German-American Day Celebration on Oct. 1

Join the Peoria German-American Central Society on Sunday, October 1st for their annual Schlachtfest from noon to 8 pm. Schlachtfest, or slaughter fest, is an old German tradition related to the slaughtering of animals in the fall before winter sets in. The fest has been combined with a celebration of German-American Day and as a kick-off to German-American Heritage month in Peoria. German-American Day is officially the 6th of October.

The Schlachtfest will feature German Music by Vogel Musik and Al’s Pals as well as a Shooting Tent, Bags & German Gift Tent, and playground equipment for the kids. A campfire will round off the evening, including complimentary marshmallows. Also make sure to not miss the German Cruis’n, a parade of German-made vehicles from noon to 5!

Date and time: Noon – 8 p.m. October 1st, 2017
