“It is an honor to welcome actor Peter Simonischek and producer Jonas Dornbach as my guests of honor to the 74th Golden Globe Awards. As Goodwill Ambassador of the State of Styria I am particularily proud that my fellow Styrian Peter Simonischek accepted my invitation. I have been familiar with Mr. Simonischeks work since childhood. My father was a stage worker at the Schauspielhaus Graz where Mr. Simonischek performed early in his career. When my father became the manager of a large complex building, he stayed in contact with his former co-workers. Through this connection my family got to see the best actors on stage and we attended many plays throughout the decades. My youngest sister Isabella Wiley worked as make-up artist at the Salzburg Festival (Salzburg Festspiele), where Peter Simonischek performed in “Jedermann”.

The 74th Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 8th in Beverly Hills. The Golden Globe Award bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognizes excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. Austrian journalist Barbara Gasser is one of the jury-members. Jimmy Fallon will host the high-profile ceremony and eight time Golden Globe-winner Meryl Streep will be the recipient of the 2017 Cecil B. DeMille Award. The Golden Globe Awards are viewed in 236 countries worldwide and are one of the few award ceremonies to include both motion picture and television achievements.
TONI ERDMAN is nominated as best foreign language film for the Golden Globes. Maren Ade, Sandra Hüller, Peter Simonischek and the producers Janine Jackowski and Jonas Dornbach will attend the ceremony. The third feature film by Maren Ade celebrated its world premiere in competition at the 2016 Festival de Cannes. Feted frenetically by the industry, audience and critics alike, the film received the international film critics association’s FIPRESCI Prize as the Best Competition Film. During the rest of the year, TONI ERDMANN was also shown at other leading festivals, including Toronto, San Sebastian, London, Moscow, Karlovy Vary, the Venice Days, Telluride or New York, and received awards such as five European Film Awards (Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenwriter, Best Actress, Best Actor), the LUX Film Prize of the European Parliament and the FIPRESCI Prize – both for Best Film of the Year -, or the Prize for the Best Foreign Language Film of the New York Film Critics Circle as well
as a Golden Globe® nomination.
