Ambassador Peter Wittig To Throw Out First Pitch
German Ambassador Peter Wittig will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Great American Ballpark on September 5. Cincinnati is known around the US as a city with deep German roots. Every year, the Cincinnati Reds baseball team honors this tradition by celebrating German Heritage Day at the ballpark. The event is co-sponsored by the German-American Citizens League and features performances by German choirs, a plethora of fans dressed in their German best, and Reds-themed beer steins. Even the Mascots get involved – in years past, Mr. Red has even donned Lederhosen for the occasion.
