This region nestling at the heart of the Alps is characterised by a spectacular natural setting and unique scenery with 47 peaks higher than 4,000 m including the world famous Matterhorn.
It enjoys a sunny climate and its tradition of fine wines and delicious cuisine make every stay unforgettable. Five major resorts are the leading destinations for sports, relaxation or sight-seeing, summer and winter alike: Crans Montana, Leukerbad, Saas-Fee, Verbier & Zermatt. Reporting on Valais can really pay off. Every year Valais/Wallis Promotion Int. awards the Valais media prize worth 5,000 CHF ($ 5,300) in cash.
In December 2013 the first alpine W Hotel will open in Verbier. Daring design meets elegant scenery. With 123 rooms and suites, each with its own fireplace, panoramic views from the balcony and the beds W has become famous for, the W Verbier will be a wonderful retreat far removed from everyday life. And all this in the midst of the largest ski region in Switzerland.
