Ute Lemper with Vogler Quartet and Stefan Malzew
Berlin Nights / Paris Days
Ute Lemper’s panache, versatility and sophisticated repertoire have led her to international acclaim. With this brand-new project she delves even deeper into the glamour of Old World Europe. Crossing national and stylistic boundaries alike, the program features quartets by Schulhoff and Ravel as well as songs by Weill, Eisler, Piaf, Brel and Piazzolla. Berlin’s Vogler Quartet — long recognized as one of the world’s leading chamber groups — and pianist/clarinetist/composer Stefan Malzew will back the sublime and sultry Lemper in this unique production. Classical repertoire influenced by non-classical elements such as tango and jazz will give way to a celebration of the timeless chansons of an era long past, but not forgotten.
