The Wagner Society of New York will celebrate the 204th birthday of Richard Wagner (born May 22, 1813), as well as its own 40th anniversary, with a recital by two WSNY grantees and a buffet dinner on Saturday, May 20, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Soprano Terina Westmeyer (“over-the-top Wagnerian grandeur” — OnStage.com) and Issachah Savage (“heldentenor par exellence” – San Francisco Examiner) will perform, with Craig Ketter at the piano. Westmeyer will sing Ewig war ich, from “Siegfried”, and the finale of the “Gotterdammerung” Immolation Scene. Savage will offer Rienzi’s Prayer and Siegmund heiss ich from “Die Walkure”. Ketter will perform Liszt’s Liebestraum No. 3 in memory of Kit Gill, former WSNY vice president.
