Bayern Munich announced that they had finalized a deal with Mats Hummels on Monday afternoon, signing the central defender to a five-year contract. The former Borussia Dortmund captain joins the club just two weeks after a transfer agreement was reached between the two Bundesliga sides and just days after the Bavarian giants overcame Dortmund in the German Cup final on penalties. On Monday the 27-year-old completed his medical and signed a deal that could keep him at Bayern until June 30, 2021. “We are pleased to welcome Mats back to Bayern,” said club CEO Harl-Heinz Rummenigge, referencing the fact that the defender left Bavaria in 2008 to join Dortmund.
