Christian Simon joined the Criminal Police in Berlin 1983 as an investigator in the fields of property crime, gang crime, and offenses committed by civil servants. Later at the Central CID, he investigated credit card fraud and right-wing extremism and was a member of the negotiation group. 1990 he was involved in merging the police forces of West and East Berlin. After entering the police chief’s level in 1995, he joined the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and served as the deputy chief of the property crimes unit, where he (in cooperation with Europol and Interpol) was project manager for the first Europe-wide operational project against trafficking in stolen vehicles. From 2008 on, he was in charge of the worldwide BKA Liaison Officers System until in July 2011 he moved to Washington, DC as the Senior Police Liaison Officer to the U.S. and Canada. In 2009 he seconded part-time to the German Foreign Office as a counsellor of international police missions.
