Continuing through Sunday, October 12th, German Currents 2014 will present a varied selection of current German cinema; including features, documentary, and short films, as well as a family/youth film.
The festival opens on Thursday, Oct. 9th with the screening of Germany’s Official Oscar Entry “Beloved Sisters”, a red-carpet opening gala featuring filmmakers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and a reception following the movie in the courtyard.
Besides film screenings, the four-day festival will feature conversations with some prolific German directors, composers and actors, a free family film screening for local schools, the opening of the multimedia exhibit “The Other Worlds of Werner Herzog” at WUHO gallery (Woodbury University’s center for experimental exhibitions and multi-disciplinary collaborations) and a filmmaker brunch exclusively for press and invited filmmakers.
German Currents 2014 is also proud to continue the cooperation with our partner festival German Currents San Diego, as well as the German Consulate General in Los Angeles, the Austrian Consulate General in Los Angeles, and the Consulate General of Switzerland to present additional films from Austria and Switzerland: Germany’s German speaking neighbors.
