“Cave of Forgotten Dreams” is a breathtaking new documentary from German director Werner
Herzog (Aguirre the Wrath of God, Encounters at the End of the World, Grizzly Man). The
film follows an exclusive expedition into the nearly inaccessible Chauvet Cave in France, home
to the most ancient visual art known to have been created by human beings. One of the first “art
films” to be produced and to receive major distribution in 3D, Herzog’s film is also the first
opportunity for the non-profit Coral Gables Art Cinema to use its new, industry standard,
theatrical quality 2K digital 3D projection system.
Cave of Forgotten Dreams opens Friday, May 13 at the Gables Cinema and will play a
seven-day-a-week run through Thursday, May 19.
