Experience and Testimony is a traveling panel exhibition of materials drawn from the German Exile Archive 1933–1945 of the German National Library, is coming so the University of New Hampshire. The touring exhibition features representations of archives and artifacts that testify to experiences of Germans living in exile in the United States. The exhibition will be on display at the University Museum in Dimond Library until December 15, 2018.
The German Exile Archive 1933–1945 collects the writings and personal papers of German-speaking exiles from the Nazi dictatorship. The United States admitted over 130,000 German-speaking refugees during this period. In recognition of these events, the exhibition is a part of the “Year of German-American Friendship Initiative 2018/19,” organized by the German Federal Foreign Office, the Goethe-Institut, and the Federation of German Industries.
University Museum hours are Monday through Friday, Noon to 4:00pm, with extended hours on Wednesdays (Noon to 7:00pm, except November 21st. For more information about the exhibition in Durham, please email dale.valena@unh.edu, or call 603-862-1081.
