For the Days of Remembrance, German-Italian artist Luigi Toscano, in partnership with the German Embassy, and with the cooperation of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, is mounting a unique photographic installation along the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The exhibition, co-sponsored by Action Reconciliation Service for Peace, features more than 120 oversized portraits of Holocaust survivors. Opening on April 10th at 3 pm, the exhibition will be on display through April 22nd.
At a public ceremony on April 10th at 3 p.m., Luigi Toscano will formally introduce his photographic installation LEST WE FORGET (GEGEN DAS VERGESSEN) on the footsteps of the Lincoln Memorial. Joining him will be German Ambassador Dr. Peter Wittig, Sara J. Bloomfield, Director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and senior rabbi M. Bruce Lustig of the Washington Hebrew Congregation. Some of the Holocaust survivors who are portrayed in the exhibition will be present as well. A guided tour will be available with the artist after the event.
