Light refreshments and appetizers will be served, fostering an inviting ambiance for meaningful networking connections within the German American business community.
About the Artist:
Philip Gröning was born in Düsseldorf, grew up in Germany and in the USA and lives currently in Berlin and Munich. He is a German Director and Media Artist as well as a visiting professor for time-based media at the Munich Academy of Art 2018 – 2019.
His current works are cross-media, centered around AI as an artistic medium. The essential focus is the work with the statistical concept of existence of AI. Sculptural retranslations from AI into physical objects.
About the Exhibition:
The exhibition will feature Gröning’s Octoberfest Phantom, an immersive experience. A work generated with the help of AI, Octoberfest Phantom envelopes the participant in the annual Munich festival – without others there. The viewer encounters the festival, but never actually gets to interact with anyone. They see a phantom of the actual event. Created during lockdown, this work mourns a time when people could celebrate and engage in celebration with each other. Through a visual and auditory experience sourced from thousands of individual actual moments in Munich, the participant is enveloped in a richly woven narrative, where they move among the phantom of a festival they cannot attend.
