Wine buffs can explore Vienna’s vineyards and wine growing hills at the Weinwandertag on the 1st and 2nd of October, 2016 – wine tasting and excellent views of the city below are part of the experience.
The Weinwandertag provides an excellent opportunity to explore the capital’s vineyards. Uniquely for a global capital, more than 700 hectares of the city are dedicated to winegrowing. Around 190 Viennese growers cultivate the areas around Kahlenberg, Nussberg, Bisamberg and Mauer, where the Danube and the Vienna Woods come together to create an ideal microclimate. This autumn, the Wiener Weinwandertag opens up three routes through the idyllic vineyards, taking in private estates not normally open to the public.
