Celebrate the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall fell on 9 November 1989! A world-historical event that not only signalled the end of the division of Germany, but also the end of the Cold War between East and West.
35 years later, Berlin will commemorate the fall of the Wall: official ceremonies are planned for 9 November 2024, the highlight of the anniversary year, and the city invites you to open-air events, exhibitions, guided tours and interactive activities.
The anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will be celebrated throughout 2024 with diverse and exciting events. Be part of it!
What will happen in 2024?
Planning in the German capital for the anniversary year is in full swing. We provide regular updates on the current status here. From May 2024, the Humboldt Forum in Mitte will be showing a large annual exhibition on the lost Palace of the Republic with information, memories and a theatre play. The DDR Museum is just a few steps away: there you can see a large, detailed model of the palace and original parts. From spring 2024, the Berlin Wall Memorial will have a new multilingual digital guide that can be downloaded to your mobile phone.
