MA: Seminar – “Bauhaus in the German classroom”

Bauhaus
Courtesy of Goethe-Institut in Boston

In 2019 is the celebration of 100 years of Bauhaus architecture, art, and design. After the school was closed down by the National Socialists in 1933, New England became an important Bauhaus hub. The reminders of Bauhaus in the region are interesting destinations for excursions for students and teachers of German.

On May 17 and 18, the Goethe-Institut Boston together with AATG Massachusetts organizes a seminar for German teacher about Bauhaus. Our focus will be on the question of learning German language and culture outside of the classroom. A guided tour in the Gropius House in Lincoln, MA, and expert presentations will offer insights about Bauhaus in New England. Interactive workshops with Ingrid Zeller from Northwestern University in Chicago will help the participants explore the topic of Bauhaus for our students inside and outside of the classroom.

Date and Time: Fri, 05/17/2019 – Sat, 05/18/2019, from 5:00 PM
Location: Gropius House, 3105, 68 Baker Bridge Rd, Lincoln, MA 01773
